Helen Bird

Hi, I'm Helen, and I feel privileged to be part of the amazing team — family, really — at Naughty Dog School.

Over the years I've owned many rescue dogs, and they've always fitted straight into family life without any problems. You're probably thinking "lucky" — and yes, I was! So I decided I had enough doggy experience to take on two troubled Romanian rescues.

How wrong was I!

In the past I'd had reactive dogs that I was able to train, but I was completely out of my depth with one of my Romy rescues — he was reactive to everything: dogs, people, vehicles, bikes, you name it! I didn't want to give in on him, but I really needed help.

Enter Naughty Dog School.

After my very first session, I began to feel confident that I could help my boy and start to fulfil his life. The positive reinforcement games are incredible for ALL dogs — they help them build their confidence and their relationships, both with each other and with their owners.

Being invited to join the NDS team was a dream come true. For me, what's so essential is helping people understand their dog's emotions and actions — that they aren't being "naughty." There's always a reason for the behaviour.

A year ago I was gifted a black Labrador puppy, and she's only ever been trained the Naughty Dog School way. Oh, what an amazing, confident dog I have! Yes, she still has her "pickle" moments, but they're soon calmed with a bit of positive reinforcement.

Remember — we all have those "off" days, and so do our dogs.
